As a Lean CI / 5S intern you will support a lean manufacturing project focused on developing a lean show cell for module assembly. The primary objective of this project is to reduce assembly turnaround time (TAT) by optimizing processes and tooling, improving flow, and eliminating waste. In addition to project work, the intern will support daily shop-floor activities related to 5S sustainment and employee-driven continuous improvement initiatives. In a 100% capacity, with immediate start date and for the duration of 1 year, this role provides hands-on exposure to lean principles, shop-floor problem solving, and real-world manufacturing improvement efforts

Your tasks

  • Lead the design and implementation of a lean show cell for module assembly
  • Study current assembly processes to identify waste, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
  • Optimize the process by improving assembly sequence, material flow, and workstation layout
  • Assist with evaluation and improvement of assembly tooling and fixtures
  • Track and report improvements in assembly TAT, productivity, and process stability
  • Support daily 5S activities and initiatives on the shop floor
  • Support the implementation of employee improvement ideas

Your Profile

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles (5S, waste elimination, standard work)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing or shop-floor environment
  • Strong communication skills in German and English, written and verbal 
  • Willingness to collaborate with operators and engineers
  • Experience with CAD, layout design, or process documentation (a plus)
  • Eligibility to work in Switzerland is required
